Powell Matsongoni


Biography

Powell Matsongoni, born in 1975 in Kadoma, Zimbabwe, is an environmental artist whose work is deeply rooted in his early experiences with nature and community. Inspired by the landscapes, wildlife, and environmental challenges of his hometown, he developed a passion for art as a means of expression and advocacy. Trained at BAT Visual Arts Studio and Peter Birch Art School, and with experience at Rosbyrne Pottery, he refined both his technical skills and artistic vision.

Matsongoni’s art focuses on raising awareness about environmental degradation caused by activities like mining and deforestation. He works across various media, including painting and sculpture, using his unique voice to highlight the importance of conservation and sustainability. His work has been exhibited both locally and internationally, and he hopes to leave a lasting legacy that encourages environmental responsibility and a deeper connection to nature.
